Best exercise methods

March 13, 2024, Wednesday, Overcast

Sometimes I get addicted to work.
For example, last night, in order to modify a segment of CSS code, I stayed up until three in the morning before going to bed.
Occasionally staying up all night is not a problem, but in the long run, it will affect both physical and mental health.
Some people say that during the day you have to work, and at night you have to take care of your family, so where is the time to exercise? Working and doing housework are exhausting, isn't that considered exercise?

This is a good question, it can be considered exercise but not really.
It depends on the type of work and whether it is balanced.
An unbalanced job, like a programmer who works late nights for a long time, staring at a glowing screen day and night, sitting still on a chair, it's like a prisoner enduring torture. Even if the brain is "active", it cannot make up for the lack of physical "exercise" in the body. Working like this will definitely lead to sub-health or even occupational diseases.

Today I want to share a practical method of "seizing every opportunity" to exercise:

Simply put, it's to "exercise when you go to the bathroom". If you go to the bathroom, get some exercise. Applying the If...then scenario and action, reducing internal consumption, and increasing effectiveness.

Some people are shocked that exercise, such a noble thing, is actually linked to going to the bathroom, how bizarre! Is it really bizarre? What is the purpose of going to the bathroom? It's for "detoxification". Going to the bathroom is not determined by one's subjective will. In order to maintain balance, the body will remind you regularly that it's time to urinate or defecate. If you ignore it, you will be in great pain, and if you continue to ignore it, it will be a very embarrassing situation.

Therefore, going to the bathroom is mandatory and regular, without the need for any external notifications or reminders. The purpose of going to the bathroom is detoxification, which is completely consistent with the purpose of exercising for the body's health. Why not combine the two? Why not do it?

Here's a practical example:

Install a simple pull-up bar on the door frame, and after each visit to the bathroom, do a few pull-ups. For me, I usually do 10 pull-ups each time, and I have to go to the bathroom several times a day, going in and out of the doorway many times. In this way, doing one minute of pull-ups each time, by the end of the day, you can easily accumulate dozens or even hundreds of pull-ups.

"Pull-ups" are one of the best fitness exercises. As long as you use my method, "do a few pull-ups when you go to the bathroom", you can definitely ensure good posture, prevent common postural problems like forward head, hunchback, etc.

That's all for today's sharing. I'm going to wash my hands (do a few pull-ups) now.
